Protection training means exactly what it says it means protecting which means defending. It does not mean attacking!
Some animal right fanatics condemn protection training as so do a few wannabe dog trainers. Well here are some facts:

Dogs do not use cars, knives and forks, swards, guns or even an umbrella in real life. Dogs use their eyes, ears, nose, paws and evidently their teeth and jaw.
A puppy will be biting its litter mates in no time, will be barking and growling to. Dogs have a natural protection instinct and they cope with danger in a certain way. They will run away, they will bark, they will growl and they will bite.

As an example lets take a doberman adult dog. Lets say that our dobermann went through no training except for protection training. Now lets study our dobermann. On a standard day our Dobermann will be playing with the children, will be following house rules and will be obedient. Now lets take a look at certain scenarios. Lets say that a thief breaks into the house and threatens our Dobermanns loved ones. What happens. Well our Dobermann was born with natural instincts. He will bark crazy and go for the intruder who is threatening our Dobermanns loved ones. He will bite the intruder how nature taught him to his natural instincts. The thief will be seriously wounded or will probably be killed by the attack.

What this example is trying to show you is that dogs will bite when they feel necessary. There is no dog that won't bite when it feels required. All dogs are born with natural instincts they will fight there own way. As an example a Karabash female will fight a wolf and will be going for the wolves throat. the male will circle and will attack the wolf from its weakest part its back. This is a standard wolf attack procedure for the Karabash family. They are born with this knowledge. If not taught different this is the exact way that they will defend their loved ones when they believe necessary.

A dog that is properly taught protection work will act very much differently. he will first growl then bark and as a last and only as a last result will he bite. His bite will be much different to it will be a single bite and hold and he will release on command or when the attacker surrenders just as he was taught. This means that the likely hood of the bite will be much less. It means that the dog will not use a scissor bite and saw and rip. It will be a clean bite.

Telling, teaching, or arguing against true professional responsible protection work is utter stupidity. Large dogs suitable for protection work are dogs that are strong and are breeds that are known for their courage and will to bite! Owning such a dog requires that a responsible person makes sure that their dog is taught protection work in a way that us humans except and call humane. Such teaching will mean that the dog will be taught how to frighten and make an attacker freeze on spot without biting. It will mean that the dog will only bite at last resource and that will be very rare for the attacker would require to continue threatening even though being confronted by a snarling barking dog or it would mean that the attacker has a gun and is shooting at you or your dog or is hitting or trying to hit you with a bat. An untrained dog of these breeds will act their way and their way is accepted as inhumane!

We advice that any person who has a dog that falls in this category should train their dog with at least level one of Schutzhund. This will mean that the dog will have been taught Obedience and it will mean that the dog has taught not to bite and when to bite and how to bite, and when to let go and to let go no matter what when commanded to do so. Schutzhund training requires that the dog bites only the attackers arm and not the throat like many would love to do so. It also means that the dog has been taught not to bite people classed as not a threat whoever they are. this will save bitten children very commonly seen where the child was warned in dog language, didn't understand and was biten...

One very important matter in protection work is that we only teach protection work we will not train your dog attack work which is much different. There are many wanna be dog trainers who will quickly train your dog to attack on command. Their method is by being cruel to your dog and giving it a name. Examples are hitting the dog and saying the magic word each time, dark room confining, being cruel etc. Their method is giving the dog a command that reminds him of all the bad causing the dog to be switched on with hatred. The affects are devastating for the dog, handler and especially the victim. There is no off button either! A very stupid, irresponsible and cruel devised operation for a quick dollar. Some people prefer this type of training because they want the perfect protection dog but they only get a monster in return who will go for anybody or anything at any time. The so called perfect protection dog will end up being tied up for the rest of its life so that it doesn't kill the postman or next door neighbors child or handler himself..

Be wise be right do the right thing. We leave you to decide for yourself and add a warning. All dogs we sell that fall into this category must receive at least Schutzhund Level training. Any dog of that has led what we call a cruel life will not be trained and the owner will hear extremely rude remarks from us.
